Zanzibar was incorporated into the United Republic of Tanzania in 1964, however Zanzibar's 735,300 people, have a separate flag and hold a very unique culture that sets it apart from the rest of Tanzania. A lush, tropical paradise, Zanzibar holds rich history and flavor, and it is almost completely inhabited by Muslims at 98.9%. 48% of the population is under the age of 18.
Young Life in Zanzibar began in 2008 and has been growing ever since. It can be dangerous for leaders to share the gospel in Zanzibar. Yet these staff and leaders are faithful, and God has richly blessed the ministry of Young Life Zanzibar.
