Mexico is about one-fifth the size of the United States and shares borders with the United States and Guatemala. Mexicans have a strong family life and the divorce rate is relatively low. Primary and secondary education are free, however, attendance is not enforced and some students are required to pay fees. Because of these obstacles, the literacy rate is lower among indigenous and rural populations. Most of the population are Catholic, though many don't attend regularly. The Mexican culture has been greatly influenced by the Catholic Church.
Young Life in Mexico started in 2008 by a native. There are now 10 volunteer leaders who have completed Young Life leader training with the hopes for significant growth in the near future.
