Mountainous terrain accompanied by a pleasant climate, along with historical and cultural monuments, make Spain a top destination for travelers, placing its tourism industry second in the world. The country is democratic with a constitutional monarchy widely acclaimed for its gender-equality practices. Although there is no state religion, a majority of the country claims Roman Catholicism as their constitutionally given choice to practice and believe as they choose. As with much of Europe, the numbers of people actually attending religious services of any kind on a regular basis are much lower, closer to 22 percent.
