My name is Apolot Esther, some people call me Essy. I live in Bukedea Town Council, Uganda with my auntie. My dad, Adusa Charles, passed away, and my mom, Akol Anna, is a farmer. I am one of 6 children. Growing up with a single parent was hard. My mother worked in people’s gardens to get us treated and fed.
Although I grew up in a Christian home, I gave my life to Jesus in 2019 at a Young Life camp. That camp changed my story. I was invited to a club at Lifeline Secondary School, and I began to understand that God could use my pain for purpose. Today I am a Young Life Leader. I serve in High School and Neighborhood ministry. Serving has taught me patience, and it has shown me how to encourage other kids that things move through Jesus.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I will study studying Law and Diplomacy at Kampala International University. My dream job is to work in a law firm, and to use what I learn to give back to Young Life ministry and to help people who feel voiceless. I will be the first in my family to attend university.
