My name is Goodness, and I live in Mbarara, Uganda with my parents and seven siblings. Mbarara is the second-largest city in Uganda where inadequate healthcare, educational constraints, and scarce job opportunities make life challenging for its citizens. Our parents provided for us, working as a driver and a chef; we were grateful for their provision, but even with two incomes, our household struggled to remain out of poverty. Thankfully, their work ethic and resilience were unmatched and did not go unnoticed. Although they did their utmost, higher education was far out of their financial reach, however, we continue to better ourselves and our way of life with faith and perseverance.
While faith has always been central in our family, it didn't become personal to me until I began seeking Christ on a deeper level. Young Life proved to be a catalyst for the growth of my faith. Shared meals, meaningful conversations, and rooms full of laughter and praise all pointed me toward Jesus. I am blessed to serve as a volunteer leader, and sharing the good news of Christ with other youth in our community has proven to strengthen my faith and drive.
As a Developing Global Leader, I will attend Kyambogo University in Kampala and pursue a degree in business and economics. My goal is to take my love of interior design and drive for business and create jobs for those in my community. With inspiration from my hardworking parents, a creative spirit, and faith in Jesus, I firmly believe there are no limits to what I can achieve. I want to be a source of light and hope for those around me so they might also know Jesus as their Savior.
