Louise

Louise is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This region is one of violent conflicts, displaced people, insufficient healthcare, and broken educational systems. For these reasons and more, Louise and her family have spent much of their lives moving from town to town. Humanitarian aid is overburdened, and while citizens do their best to care for their families, they often fall short. Relationships were hard to truly establish due to the pace at which they were forced to move. She is grateful for her family and the simple joys they find being with one another.

Above all, Louise's faith in Jesus Christ has given her the most comfort and direction. Growing up, her parents told her, “The words of God are sacred,” so Louise often sought wisdom and peace through the Bible. She serves in various church roles and takes pride in being a Young Life team leader in the Nyiragongo entity of North Kivu. She believes having courage and treating others with politeness serves her well as she shares the Gospel.

As a Developing Global Leader, she attends the Higher Institute of Medical Techniques in Goma and aspires to earn a degree in pediatric medicine. Her heart is set on helping children who do not have means to care for themselves and creating a better life for her family. Throughout her life, Louise has witnessed many of the challenges citizens of the DRC face. Her prayer is to be the hands and feet of Jesus for those less fortunate than her while introducing others to her Heavenly Father.
