Sam

Sam was born in the Kole District of Uganda. He lost his mother at three and was placed with his uncle. His upbringing was very challenging due to mistreatment which eventually drove him into streets. His father eventually brought him back home but Sam found it hard to thrive at home since street life was deeply ingrained in him. His father remarried, but his relationship with his step-mother was difficult and he did not feel understood by his father. Compounding his hardship, Sam could not depend on his father's provision for his school fees.

Thankfully, the local church priest offered to pay his school fees for elementary but his struggles continued when his father passed away. Sam shares, “When my father passed away, everything was in the dark for me, but Christ never let me down”. The Lord made a way for him to attend high school and he lived with his sister. When he was introduced to Young Life, he renewed his relationship with Jesus Christ and started the journey of salvation afresh.

Now, with the help of Developing Global Leaders scholarship, Sam hopes to study Education at Kyambogo University and major in economics. He envisions himself as a role model who encourages lost teenagers.
