Brigitte

My name is Brigitte, but people call me Neema; and I am from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I am the fifth of seven children in my family. We lived in a popular area of the Congo with our mother and father in a small house. I had a happy childhood, full of playing and games. From a young age I enjoyed challenging myself and participating in activities that let me use my competitive side.

Not raised in the church, my first experience hearing about God came when I was invited to Young Life by a friend in high school. I found the activities at Young Life so fun; it was a place where I could be myself and feel a sense of community. I loved learning about God and found that placing my trust in Him gave me a sense of peace about my life, and helped me to release the pressure and control I had been placing on myself.

As a Developing Global Leader, I will be attending the University of Goma and studying social science. I am excited use my degree to better understand my community and to be able to help it flourish. I am committed to helping leaders and kids grow deeper in their relationship with Christ and be stewards of service in our community.
