Faith

Faith is a woman of great resilience who grew up during the civil war that persisted for over twenty years in Liberia. Her parents were poor who farmed as a means for survival. One of seven children, Faith now lives with her husband in a small community in Bomi County, in northwest Liberia. Faith reflects, “During my childhood, I was not much of a talker or a listener, I was a fighter. In spite of my parents sacrifices to send me to school, I was not focused on my lessons and never believed college was an option for my life.”

Faith met Jesus in the church and through praise and worship and prayer services she came to faith which was the catalyst for great change in her life. Through a friend at church, Faith learned about Young Life and later was invited to a meeting to check out the ministry in her community to teens. Through her time as a leader, Faith has stepped into many areas of servant leadership and leads her team with care and courage. Her greatest life challenge was the death of her first son and reflects that the prayer, love, concern and the words of encouragement from her Young Life family enabled her to walk through this great heartache.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Faith’s goal is to graduate with a nursing degree from Bomi Community College. She dreams of being able to help her family financially as well as serve humanity and save lives in her community. Faith will be the first in her family to graduate from university.
