Julio

My name is Julio and I am from Matagalpa, Nicaragua. My childhood was developed under the care of strict parents. They valued education and hard work; however, their discipline was harsh and even physical at times. I assumed the role of mediator between my older brother and my parents. Due to the constant conflict, I formed little emotional attachment to my parents and eventually separated from them completely. I have come to understand that God handles things according to His plan and my focus throughout this period is to be faithful trusting that in the midst of the difficulty we must feel joy because God does not and will not leave us.

When I became involved in Young Life, my faith was strengthened. At camp and during club, I began to see Jesus in the people who served with love in the Young Life ministry. I realized that there were bigger plans in people's lives and these plans were orchestrated by God and God alone. Wanting to be part of the miracle of knowing God and living according to His will, I grew in my faith, strengthened my resolve to accomplish my goals, and dove head first into ministry.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying business and environmental law at a local university. My dream is to establish a community in which we can see one another with respect regardless of the difference of ideologies or cultures, and support the improvement of our national economy. Through good management of laws and public processes, I plan to be part of this grand project and am motivated to create new job opportunities for others. I plan to use the same passion to continue training leaders and ministering and teaching teens in my community about the love of Jesus.
