Rehema

My name is Rehema. I am a born-again Christian from a small rural village called Mtandikeni, in coastal Kenya. I came to know Jesus Christ when I was young; life in Christ has given me courage to move forward in life despite the challenges I face in my family. I lived in a very poor condition, lacking most of my basic needs including food and quality education. I had to skip meals consistently and walk great distances to school when we were able to remain current on my school fees. I have learned be humble and have faith in God, and hope to love, care for, and encourage others facing situations similar to the difficult ones I have encountered.

I connected to Young Life when invited to attend camp. My faith story hasn’t been all smooth; there were times I faced temptations as a teenager. However, when situations are beyond my control or understanding, I find counsel and seek God in prayer. Since joining Young Life, I have learned various leadership skills, including sharing the gospel in front of a large group of kids. I love being a Young life leader and through my work, I reach out to lost kids and introduce them to Christ all while they become friends whom I love.

I will be the first to graduate from university and I am committed to changing my family status by working hard in my studies and attaining my goals. As a Developing Global Leader, I am studying business management at Kenya Coast National Polytechnic. My leadership goals are to use my energetic nature and mobilize youth to participate in transformational activities. I am called to tell people about Gods' message and continue to grow as a Young Life leader, serving and loving kids in everything I do.
