Regina

My name is Regina and I live in Moshi-Soweto, Tanzania. I grew up in a single parent home with four siblings. One of the things that I have had to overcome in my life is having an abusive situation with a teacher that I felt that I must keep a secret. I never felt free like other children because of this secret and I didn't tell anyone until I met my Young Life leader. This leader was so loving and caring and I was finally ready to share the burden I had carried for so long.

I met Jesus in high school through Young Life. My best friend kept inviting me to go with her until finally I gave in. It was so fun that I kept going, even getting training to become a leader myself. From there, I have been reaching out to kids from my school and neighborhood as a leader. Every year, I take kids to Young Life camp which has been great way to serve Jesus and the Kingdom of God. My life has changed a lot since becoming a leader because I have seen how good it is for others to know Christ through me.

My future goal is to continue to become a better person, someone that can be a blessing to others. I especially want to be an example for the youth in my community. My hope is to become an accountant with a CPA license, have a career, and continue to teach and lead Young Life while serving my community as an accountant. As a Developing Global Leaders scholarship recipient, I hope to be the first in my family to earn a university degree.
