Martha Denisse

My name is Martha and I live in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. I am the youngest of three children. My childhood was filled with fun memories of playing with my brothers and cousins or watching the same movie every afternoon just because I loved it so much! For as long as I can remember, I suffered from bronchial asthma, where the attacks were frequent and very strong. At age fourteen, the Lord healed me; I count the years I wrestled with that disease to be a great challenge crossed.

My parents and grandparents took me to the local church growing up, where I learned many things about Jesus. I also learned about Jesus in school, but it wasn’t until age thirteen when a school friend invited me to Young Life that I finally considered how Jesus could impact my life. That night at club was the first time I listened to young people my age talking about the love of Jesus! I attended my first camp where I felt the Jesus everyone was talking about and I started an intimate spiritual relationship with Him. That moment changed everything. God’s love has removed the fear and hatred I had towards others and has quieted and relieved my anxiety. My spiritual goal today is that God will make me more like Jesus and help me be a bridge for my friends to get to know Jesus in a personal way.

Now as a Developing Global Leader, I am engaged in learning more about the laws that govern my country by studying law and diplomacy at UENIC Nicaragua. I hope to become a lawyer and one day open my own law firm that can serve the people in my community as well as specialize in international law.
