Archie

My name is Archie. I am the oldest of three siblings and I live with my parents, two brothers and one sister. Our home is located in the Old Road community in Monrovia, Liberia. Growing up has been challenging for me as the resources needed to meet basic social needs were always limited. My parents are supportive and taught us family values, including how to have faith in our savior Jesus and how to live a Godly life. Expressing myself or sharing my thoughts among my peers was a challenge while growing up. I stutter and was often bullied by kids in my community and school. This made me feel like I did not have much to offer. I overcame this challenge with the moral guidance of my parents, my relationship with Christ and moreover my involvement with Young Life.

My parents introduced me to Jesus during our regular morning devotions while growing up. I learned to love and care for people, and do the right thing because the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. On the day I accepted Jesus Christ and asked Him to lead my life, I felt relieved off a burden that held me down. My involvement with Young Life continued to reinforce my faith, help me grow in confidence and further develop my leadership skills.

Science and technology play a major role in the development of our society today. As a Developing Global Leader and the first in my family to attend university, I am earning a degree in database management at Starz University. I love solving problems and will use my emotional discipline and passion for service to bring out the best in me and others. While in the DGL program, I hope to acquire available leadership training and build a network that will support my desire for servant leadership and be an inspiration to young leaders.
