Chris

My name is Chris and I am from Bangor, Northern Ireland. I am currently studying law at Queen’s University Belfast. I love sports, especially cricket and have played it throughout my school years at a local and regional level. Growing up, I had always gone to church but lacked any true belief in God or even an understanding of what it truly meant to be a follower of Christ. Throughout my early teens, I took a dim view of religion, branding it as silly, useless and nothing but a myth.

My view of the Christian faith changed when I was fifteen and my friends invited me to a Young Life club for the first time. I was immediately struck by the welcoming and friendly atmosphere and distinctly remember thinking to myself, “These Christians are alright!”. Later that year, I would go to Young Life camp at Cairn Brae with absolutely no intention of becoming a Christian. At this camp, I had my first encounter with God and felt compelled to accept the love and salvation that Jesus offers and follow Him. Three years on from hesitantly going to that strange Christian youth group, I’m now working as a Developing Global Leader for Young Life!

In my time in this role as a DGL, I wish to see as many kids as possible have the opportunity to experience and accept the gospel, just as I did. After they accept Jesus, I want to be at the forefront, helping them to mature and grow in their faith, planting the seeds that will hopefully lead to them spreading the good news of the cross for themselves. I welcome and appreciate all prayers as I begin this period of my walk with God!
