Consolata

My name is Consolata and my friends call me Consor. I’m from the small village of Ngaramtoni, near Arusha, Tanzania. I am the first born of two children, raised by a single mother. My father passed away when I was seven years old and life has been difficult since that day. My mother was left without a permanent job, so now she is a street food vendor (selling food in buckets), in order for us to meet our daily needs.

Spiritual seeds were planted at my Lutheran church where I was baptized and confirmed during my childhood; however, after confirmation, I was badly influenced by my friends and only attended church to please my mother. I later met a Young Life leader through sports and was invited to attend outreach camp. I gave my life to Jesus upon learning how my life could be changed forever after accepting Him in my life.

As a Developing Global Leader, I am studying tourism at Arusha Wisdom Training College, with the dream of introducing others to the many gifts and resources that the Lord has blessed our country with. My hope is to help build community awareness and to continue my study about wild animals. My hope is to study hard, work with great quality, and dispel the notion that women cannot work, particularly in the tourism sector. I am looking forward to developing to be a leader in my ministry and learning to form other women leaders. I am the first in my family to go to college.
