Camila

My name is Camila, I currently live with my parents and siblings in the city of Cali, Colombia. Since I was very little, I was very studious, kind, and interested in everyone. One of my biggest challenges as a child was to express myself correctly; words didn't make sense without crying and that frustrated me a lot, so I locked myself in my own world, until Jesus showed me the world with the one full of opportunities and hope and I was included in it.

Once I realized that the world was better with Jesus, I had a personal encounter with Him and began the story that God had for me with Him. I was born into a "Christian" family but lived with my parents' faith until I was thirteen, when I began to develop my own faith. The catalyst for change came through my constant questions about God, I was filled with fear and emptiness until Jesus drew me to Him with a purposeful answer to all my doubt-filled questions. I experienced two years of much waiting and prayer to get accepted into college. I prayed in the midst of the chaos of the pandemic for God to allow me to get in and do something meaningful. In the waiting, God connected me with Young Life and has used it to strengthen and impact my faith life and the faith lives of others.

My educational and professional vision is to show Jesus through my college life by performing well academically and loving the people around me as Jesus loves me. I am focusing on impacting my life and the lives of others through Young life, by seeking more leaders and opening more clubs. As a Developing Global Leader, I am attending ICESI University and studying psychology. I will be the first in my family to graduatye from university.
