Sadamise

My name is Sadamise, I go by Sada. I am from a town called Hinche, which is located in central Haiti. I no longer have any siblings and live with my parents. When I was twelve, my little sister who was ten at the time, while performing a simple task, complained about not feeling well, collapsed and passed away. Growing up as an only child from that time forward was filled with loneliness, grief, hardship and uncertainty.

I grew up in a Christian family and always went to church with my parents. As a teenager, I met two leaders from Young Life at an event put on by the Red Cross. They started telling me about Young Life which captivated me and the rest is history. Shortly after, I was very sick with typhoid fever. Over the span of three years, we visited many hospitals, but the countless medications offered little relief. I decided to get on my knees and start praying to God. I started getting better and from then on, I have learned to depend on Jesus for everything.

I really enjoy learning about computers, especially because it is an evolving science, constantly presenting new things to learn. Distribution of information and modern modes of communication are often severed and difficult for most Haitian citizens to obtain. I would love to be able to provide a computer science lab to help expose those who cannot afford to learn in school to the resources and technology needed to excel in society. I am humbled by the opportunity to study computer science at the Episcopal University of Hinche. As a Developing Global Leader, I am involved with counseling, encouraging, and leading students in Bible Study. I am willing to do whatever is needed as a leader, stepping up to educate and love the children in my community. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from the university.
