Kendra

My name is Kendra and I am from a small town on the southern coast of Haiti. I live with my parents and three siblings in a small dwelling. When I was twelve, I became very ill and the doctors in my town did not know what else to do but to pray to God. I eventually became well enough to leave the hospital and I began to follow the Lord and thank Him for my life every day.

My relationship with God continued to grow as I began to attend Young Life in high school. I formed a community with my friends and Young Life leaders and was grateful to have people walk with me through the hard and sad days, as well as the happy ones. As I continue to grow, I hope to inspire others in hard situations that they can still become someone through the power of God.

As a Developing Global Leader, I will attend the American University of the Caribbean in Haiti. I will still be close to my family while being able to become the first to attend college. I will be studying agriculture, as my happiest childhood memories are from gardening with my father before I got sick. I am excited to continue to be a part of Young Life as a leader, and to be a friend to high school girls – just like my leader was for me.
