My name is Julie and I live in Port Au Prince, Haiti. I am third in a family of 6 children. My father passed away when I was young, leaving my mother with the responsibility to raise us alone. Though we sporadically attended church, I did not know Christ as a little girl. After high school, I had no vision for my future, with seemingly few options available. During an illness, I met Miss Mirlande while visiting a clinic, and she told me about Young Life. My mother had just lost a daughter and was hesitant to let me go to club with Mirlande. Finally, my mother was convinced and she let me go to camp in November of 2016. My life was forever changed by that decision, I gave my life to Christ at this camp. The following year, I was fortunate to serve kids just like me at camp and I became a Young Life leader in my community. I am reaching kids for Christ and helping grow the kingdom of God.

Now, as a Developing Global Leader, I bless the name of God, because I have the opportunity to make my dream come true, by studying business management at the University of Quisqueya. Upon graduation, I would like to find a job as a business administrator and earn enough money to start a foundation to help young girls like me. I want to create an environment that helps them grow in their faith and equips them to face life differently than I did, providing the opportunity for them to live with hope for their future. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from university.
