Tinsae

I am Tinsae Ermias, but people call me Tinsu. I live in Hawassa, Ethiopia with my parents and younger sister. My dad is an electrician and my mom is a secretary but she sometimes makes and sells cookies (injera) to meet our needs. As a child, I struggled with low self-esteem due to financial hardships and my parents’ constant fights and divorce threats. I didn’t love myself and wondered why God created me. But as I grew older, I began to see my parents’ sacrifices and, more importantly, God’s grace and love that reconciled them.

Though I gave my life to Christ as a child, my faith became deeper after I joined Young Life. Through the leaders that came to do contact work at my school and through Young Life, I learned that just as Christ loved us, I am called to love others. Now I serve as a Team Leader at Adare High School and in University ministry.

With the support from Developing Global Leaders’ program, I will pursue Pharmacy in Science and Medicine at Yante College in Hawassa. I chose pharmacy because I want my life to be a source of hope and salvation for someone else. My vision is to excel in school, become a pharmacist, help my family, and share the Gospel with many people.
