Scophia

My name is Scophia, but my friends call me Scoph. I am from Kapseret Centre, Uasin Gishu County, Kenya, where I live with my parents, sister, and my two daughters. My parents separated when I was a child and my mother, who works as a house help, raised us. I sometimes missed school to help her. My parents have reunited but my father has no job and became an addict. 

I knew about Christ, but I had no personal relationship with Him. However, when I became a teen mom of two and faced fear and rejection, I realized I had sinned and needed to ask for forgiveness, and devote my life fully to Him. That was when I first heard about Young Life from Mr. Daniel Ng'etich. I shared my story with him and he connected me to Emiliana Chepchirchir, our Young Lives Kapseret leader. Young Life gave me hope again, strengthened my faith, and taught me integrity and forgiveness. Because Christ died and forgave me, I can also forgive myself and others. I have been in Young Life for 4 years - 3 as a club kid and 1 as a leader. I now serve as a Club Leader for Young Lives. 

With Developing Global leaders’ scholarship, I will be the first in my family to attend university, pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and Sports at Koitaleel Samoei University College. I chose this field because I am passionate about sports as my God-given talent and a great way to share the Good News while teaching. I hope to become a role model teacher who shares the gospel through college and Younglives ministry.
