My name is Nhung and I am from the Mekong area. When I was one year old, my father left with another woman, and my mother and extended family looked after me. I was bullied and suffered from depression.

I was born into a culturally Buddhist family. The first time my siblings took me to church, I was very nervous and afraid that my family would reprimand me so didn’t open my heart. After my family found out they wouldn't let me go to church. Although I hadn’t gone to church for very long and I haven't personally experienced God yet, I felt His rebuke and admonition for not attending. Afterwards, my siblings and friends encouraged me to return. My friend prayed and declared a break with the evil things around me. In the early days of my faith, I heard whispers in my ears. I used to hear those sounds as a child, but I didn't know what they were. Later, I learned they were the voices of the devil. Their whisperings were greatly terrifying. I prayed strongly to God and declared that I would cut off those things. I heard God's voice and I became stronger. From then on, I began a relationship with God, praying and studying His word every day.

I encountered God in my most fearful moments. God embraced me and comforted me, helping me to become stronger and more courageous in following Him. Later, I connected with Young Life through its programs and camps.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I aspire to study and work in a good, healthy environment, preferably one that is Christian. I want to serve the Lord and lead young people to Him.
