My name is Ben and I was born in a small village in Nimba County. My parents are farmers. I have seven siblings and currently live with my parents in Kakata City, Margibi County. One of my greatest challenges came when my parents could no longer afford my education and returned to the village to farm, leaving me with my uncle in the city. I worked to earn money for school, but financial difficulties caused me to stay out of school for several years. I graduated from high school in 2019 and have since been unable to attend university because of financial limitations. These experiences taught me resilience and hard work.
My faith journey began as a child when I attended church with my parents. I began my personal relationship with Jesus at a Young Life outreach camp at the Baptist Seminary in Monrovia, where I learned about Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins. A high school friend first invited me to Young Life, and I have now been involved for eleven years, including three years as a club kid and eight years as a leader. I currently lead a Young Life team, conduct contact work, establish new clubs, and lead Campaigners for students ages 14–22. I am a member of Faith Redeem Outreach Ministries in Kakata, where I lead Sunday School and serve in youth leadership.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I will study Business Management at Cuttington University. I am the first in my family to attend university. I chose this field because I want to manage my own business, and become an entrepreneur who positively impacts Liberia. Through DGL, I hope to earn my degree, build a career, support my parents, and give back to my community.
