My name is Allan Mukige, but people call me Mia Mbili. I live in Gakoigo Town, Nginda Ward, Maragua Constituency in Kenya with my parents and two siblings. My dad, Evan Kariuki, is a carpenter and my mom, Rosebel Njeri, runs a salon. I am the first in my family to attend university. When my grandparents passed away while I was in primary school, our family relocated due to conflicts. We relied on my dad’s small income and bursaries to get through school. When I joined university in 2024, fees became even harder and hindered me from doing exams.
I was raised Catholic and gave my life to Christ when I was baptized in Primary 5. My walk deepened in Form 1 when our soccer coach started training us and inviting us to Young Life club. In the club, I heard a life-changing message about Jesus. Later, I went to camp and attended Campaigners for 3 years and now I lead High school and Wyldlife clubs.
Through the DGL scholarship, I will continue my Bachelor of Science in Travel and Tour Management at Murang’a University of Technology for my love for cultural diversity. My dream after graduation is to work as a travel agent or tour operator.
