My name is Lucie. I live in Brno, Czech Republic, with my parents and sister. My childhood was nice, and we often visited our family in the countryside to have a break from the city. As a child, I felt that I had to earn my parents' love or that I had to compete for it with my older sister. I felt that I was the black sheep of the family and struggled with feelings of inferiority.
I grew up in a non-religious family. During my first year of high school, my classmate invited me to go to Young Life club with her. After that, I went to my first Young Life camp where I felt unconditionally loved for the first time in a while. Young Life became my community, but Jesus was still just part of the fanatical faith I knew from school. Over the next school year, I got into a very unhealthy relationship and it made me do bad things to myself and to others. After I got out of it, I went to camp again feeling anxious and prayed to God that He would do something about it. After one of the talks, I decided to give Christianity a chance and believe in Christ. Now, I attend church in Brno, and I am a WyldLife leader.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying education at Masarykova Univerzita in Brno. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from university. With my degree, I want to be a teacher and dedicate myself to children as my calling and mission from God.
