My name is Pauline, but I am called Kapagee. I grew up in Voinjama City, Liberia, with my mother and brother. My father is deceased, and my mother is a farmer who raised us through farming and gardening. Life was difficult, and many days I walked to school without food and was sent out of class because we could not afford school fees. When my mother became seriously ill during my senior year, I felt alone and hopeless, but I chose not to give up. These experiences taught me strength and compassion for others.
My faith journey changed everything. Before meeting Jesus, I was very shy and avoided people because of rejection. I found a new family through Young Life when I attended my first club at Voinjama Multilateral High School. In June 2018, I gave my life to Jesus at my first Campaigners camp. Through weekly Campaigner studies, I learned to pray, lead devotions, evangelize, and lead others. I now attend Redeemed Christian Church of Christ in Voinjama, where I serve as Youth Treasurer. I have been involved with Young Life for nine years, including eight years as a leader. I currently serve as Team Leader for the Voinjama Multilateral High School club, working with thirteen volunteer leaders.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I will study Midwifery at Lofa County University beginning in September 2026. I chose midwifery because I have seen women and girls in my community suffer and die during childbirth because of limited access to information and care. I hope to become a professional midwife who helps save mothers and newborns and reduce maternal deaths in Liberia. I am honored to be the first person in my family to attend university.
