Mikiyas

My name is Mikiyas Fikadu, but people call me Miki. I live in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia with my mother, Abebech Tekeste, and my niece as my dad has passed away. My childhood was both lovely and challenging but God used these to shape my character and deepen my faith. Losing my older sister and later my father as a child challenged me. I learned resilience, compassion, and to value every moment with the people I love. 

My late sister told me about Jesus. Through her example as a disciple of Christ, I decided to follow Him too. From then on, my relationship with Jesus has grown through prayer, reading Scripture, and asking myself daily: "Will this glorify Him?" Years later, I learned about Young Life through a Young Life leader at church. I was inspired by their heart for young people and joined as a kid and now serve as a leader. My strength is collaboration, but I struggle with confidence in leadership.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I will begin studying Accounting and Finance at Debre Birhan University. I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems. My ideal job after graduation is working in humanitarian projects — using business skills to help people in need. My goals are to grow spiritually, develop stronger leadership skills, and become more effective in sharing the Gospel.
