My name is Beline Muhavi. I live in Lusomo Village, Shinyalu Sub-County, Kakamega County, Kenya with my parents and 4 sisters. My dad, Reuben Likhanga, works as a watchman and my mom, Silvia Lugutsa, works as a housemaid. I am the first in my family to go to university. Growing up was painful. My father struggled with alcohol and would come home angry, sometimes chasing us out. I watched my parents fight in front of me and I became rude and unruly.
God met me in that broken place through the Young life club in my primary school. I was taught to have faith in Jesus and I began the journey of faith at a Young Life camp where I said yes to Jesus. My life took a new trend of daily quiet times and trust in God. Today, I am a Club Leader serving in High School and WyldLife club and my at my local church.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I will begin a Bachelor of Education (Arts) at MMUST in Kakamega through the support of the DGL program. I believe teaching will give me a chance to reach more students with the message of Jesus Christ. My goal is to start Young Life club in every school where I work so students can know Christ.
