Biniyam

My name is Biniyam Begashaw, but people call me Bini.  I live in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia with my parents and two siblings. My dad, Begashaw Mengesha, is a church pastor and my mom, Yemserach Yegzu, does personal work. Growing up in a Christian home gave me a foundation, but high school was difficult. I had many friends who didn’t share my values, and when I chose to follow Jesus more closely, I lost most of those friendships. I was alone, but it taught me to rely on God and to stand firm in my faith however hard.

My life changed when I joined Young Life club in school. I found a community of leaders who prayed together and pointed me to Christ. That deepened my personal relationship with Jesus and has since given me opportunity to serve God with my keyboard sharing that talent at club, campaigners, camp and my local church.

With the support from the DGL program, I will pursue Marketing and Sales at Dire Dawa University. I chose this field because I want to learn the skills to run my own business to support my family and community.  My goal is to grow in integrity and responsibility, and serve faithfully in Young Life. I hope my degree equips me to create opportunities for others and to support ministry.
