Chester Arthur

My name is Chester Arthur., but I am called Dry Stone and I live in Monrovia, Liberia. I grew up with both parents and my two siblings. Though we did not have much, we had love and togetherness. My father worked as a social worker, and my mother ran a small business. When I entered junior high school, my parents separated, and I lived with my father while my mother cared for my younger brother. After graduating high school in 2019, I was unable to attend college. When my father later left, I began selling goods to support myself. Through these challenges, I learned to trust God.

My faith is the most significant part of my life. I gave my life to Christ in 2015 during a church service after hearing a message about transformation. I am a member of First Assembly of God Church in Monrovia, where I serve in the youth department. My daily walk with Jesus continues to grow as I learn to abide in Christ through His Word. I became involved with Young Life through a leader named Rita at Newport Junior High. I have been involved for six years, including five years as a leader. I currently serve as Team Leader at New Creation Junior High School, supervising seven volunteers and working with students ages 14–20.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I study Accounting at African Methodist Episcopal University. I am the first in my family to attend university.  I believe God is calling me to serve others through this profession. My goal is to complete my education while continuing to serve Young Life.
