My name is Nelia, and I am from Chyhyryn, a small town in Ukraine. Most of the time I live with my mother and stepfather, but during the school year I stay in a dormitory while studying Social Work at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute." I chose this field because I believe there will always be a need for compassionate people to walk alongside those facing difficult circumstances, especially as the war continues to increase the need for social support in Ukraine.
Although I grew up in a Christian family and attended church from childhood, my parents' divorce during my teenage years became the turning point of my faith. Through that painful season, I realized that only Jesus could fill the emptiness in my heart and offer the love and security I was searching for. I gave my life to Christ and since then have found purpose in serving others. I got engaged tin Young Life ministry when it was first launched in our church. Today, I serve as team leader of the WyldLife team. Serving others has taught me gratitude, compassion, and the importance of seeing every person through God's eyes.
Through the Developing Global Leaders program, I want to become a wiser leader, strengthen our ministry, and launch a Young Life club for teenagers. My dream is to help young people build their lives on biblical values while also preparing for a career in social work. I believe that both my education and my ministry are ways God is equipping me to serve my country, my church, and the next generation.
