My name is Jonatan and I live in Bergen, Norway, with three friends I met during Bible school. I grew up in Trondheim with my mom, dad and two sisters. We had an amazing upbringing, and went to church. Even though I had challenges with my middle school and high school community not being very healthy or loving, I overcame by staying true to myself and with the love and wisdom of my parents, a healthy church and great teachers. I am ready to give this to others.
As a child, I grew up in faith and in church. However, my relationship with God became personal in middle school and high school through my church youth group and encounters with God. In my earlier faith life, I had a deep longing for God and a dissatisfaction with my life. During that time, I see that He was drawing me to Himself. I then got connected to Young Life through a staff talking about it at an inspiration night at my church's student ministry. I saw it as an opportunity to start something new in my city.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying Psychology at the University of Bergen. I chose psychology because I enjoy listening to others and I want to help others and be a leader. With my degree, I want to change lives and bring healing to this world and to students while building His Kingdom.
