My name is Kristoffer. My friends call me Kris. I live outside of HaIden, Norway. I grew up on a farm with my parents, and my older and younger sisters. During my childhood and early teen years, we were a temporary foster home and had different children living with us anywhere from one day to six months at a time. I had a good upbringing. In my early teens, I struggled with self-doubt in the way I looked and acted.
My parents taught me about Jesus from the day I was born, and that has been an important part of my upbringing. Because of them, I have always known that Jesus loves me and died for me. My parents also taught me to pray from a young age. However, even though I have always considered myself a Christian and knew Jesus, I didn't get baptized until I was 19 years old. I struggled with the feeling that I was not a good enough Christian to get baptized, but I realized that I needed to trust Jesus with everything and be open to letting him change me. This deepened my personal relationship with Him. Then, I got connected to Young Life when one of my friends invited me to a leader training day. I said yes almost immediately to joining the team. I have learned so much about God, myself and ministry through Young Life.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying education at Ostfold University College in Halden. With my degree, I want to become a math and science teacher. I want to teach children and continue leading with Young Life working to help kids feel seen and know that they are loved.
