My name is Joan Rivas, and I grew up in a family where I heard about God, but it wasn’t until later that I understood what it truly meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus. During my teenage years, I went through moments of confusion and insecurity- it was in that process that God began to draw my heart toward Him.
I connected with Young Life thanks to a friend from church who invited me. From the very first meeting, I felt an environment of community, friendship, and growth. Young Life became a space where I could strengthen my faith, make friends who help me grow spiritually, and understand that God can use even the most unexpected details of my life.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying Public Accounting and Auditing, and for me this career is not just a way to get a good job, but a tool I want to use responsibly and with purpose. I know the financial area is one of the most delicate and requires integrity—something God has been forming in me since I came to know Him. I would like to work in a company where I can grow professionally, but I also dream of using my knowledge to support projects, ministries, or even churches that need someone trustworthy in this area. A very important part of my vision is also continuing to serve in Young Life. I want to open all the clubs I can and reach more young people who, just like I once did, need a safe, friendly, and hope-filled space.
