My name is Florence - my friends call me Floflo. I was born in Maroua, in the far north of Cameroon. I live there with my mother, my three brothers, and my sister. My childhood was filled with love and joy, as I grew up surrounded by my family and was actively involved in my church, participating in many movements and activities. However, my life changed dramatically the day we returned home from the field and found my father lifeless. Losing him was a painful shock, and it deeply affected our family. Life became more challenging, but God’s grace has carried us through.
I first met Jesus as a child because my parents taught me about Him and encouraged me to read the Bible daily. My faith grew stronger when I joined catechism groups and church training, but a major turning point came when God placed caring people in my life who supported me during difficult times. In 2019, I heard about Young Life and attended my first Young Life camp in Maroua. There, I rediscovered my joy and passion for life. Today, I serve as the leader of the Young Life club in Makaye, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and reaching out to kids through contact work, mentoring, and discipleship.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I am pursuing a degree in Banking and Finance. My dream is to build a better future for my family, serve my community, and continue ministering through Young Life by helping more young people know Christ.
