My name is Taylor and I live near Bangor in Northern Ireland. I live with my mom, dad and younger sister. My childhood was filled with fun and adventure. However, my early teenage years were filled with the uncertainty of a pandemic and the lockdown that accompanied it. I could not cope with the uncertainty and loneliness of life during lockdown, became very anxious and developed a panic disorder. However, God walked beside me through this and it is much milder now.
I grew up in a Christian family and always attended church, and from a young age, I considered myself a Christian. However, I attended Cairn Brae, a Young Life camp in Scotland, and I credit that as the moment that brought me from a family faith to a personal one. I am now a volunteer leader for Young Life high school and middle school ministries.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying History and Politics at Queens University in Belfast. With my degree, I would love to teach history or politics in a secondary school. I have seen first hand the difference a teacher can make and hope to be that difference in other young people’s lives. I also want to continue to embrace and enjoy a leadership role in Young Life, growing in my own faith while working hard to bring more kids to faith.
