Ryan

My name is Ryan. My friends call me Rhyno. I live in Hatfield, England, with my mom, dad and brother. I grew up going to pentecostal churches, but my faith was more of a set of rules and not a personal thing. I then underwent cancer treatment in 2020 and grew to know Jesus in a different way.  

My faith was inherited from my family, but my obedience to God was out of fear rather than love. In high school, I would share with my friends that I was a Christian, but I did not understand the love of Jesus until I went through cancer. During that time, I had to hold onto my faith, and my relationship with Jesus became personal. After surviving my cancer battle, I had a reset point in my life that shifted my faith from fear of God's wrath to a loving relationship because Christ had been with me when no one else was. I then found Young Life and am now a team leader for high school and middle school ministries.

Now a DGL, I am attending St. Mellitus College in South Kensington, London, and studying Theology and Christian ministry. I hope to obtain my degree and continue serving with Young Life. I also feel called to my local community as it is a reflection of who I was before God's turning point in my life.
