I’ve had a normal, joyful childhood. I mostly spent my time with my grandma, and I remember little of my mom since she was working extra hours. I have very good memories with my dad—going on picnics, to the playground, dancing together, and spending weekends at my cousins’ house for sleepovers. Summers at my grandma’s house in Berat with my cousins were especially fun. My parents are Christians, and I grew up in church. I always heard about Jesus and loved Him, but I didn’t have a personal relationship with Him.

In my early teen years, I started feeling depressed, unloved, and disconnected. I struggled with harmful habits and unhealthy relationships. It was during a Young Life summer camp that everything changed. I broke down and opened up to my leader and my dad, who was working at the camp. We prayed together, and I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior I still struggled to believe I was fully loved by God because of the things I had done, but Romans 8:38–39 encouraged me that night and continues to give me strength. Since then, I’ve been part of youth church meetings and regularly attend and lead Young Life gatherings.

Now a DGL, I hope to become a skilled and professional dentist. I want to get good grades and truly understand everything I’m learning. As a leader, I want to help others and be a source of encouragement. I also hope to join the worship ministry and serve by playing piano. I want to continue being involved in the teens and children’s ministries, sharing God’s love and helping others grow in their faith.
