Etulo

I am the firstborn in a family of six from the Democratic Republic of Congo. My childhood was filled with both love and hardship. Because of conflict in our region, my family had to flee and seek safety in Kenya. Life as refugees was difficult—we struggled with identity, limited opportunities, and the pain of having our resettlement application rejected. That moment left me feeling lost and forgotten, even by God.

But in that brokenness, I began to seek God—not through religion, but through a personal relationship. I cried out to Him in silence and pain, and slowly realized He had never left me. What felt like the end became the beginning of a new life with Jesus at the center.

I chose to stop waiting for help and instead became someone who brings hope to others. That’s when God began shaping me for leadership and service. I found Young Life through contact work, and it quickly became my spiritual home. Through Young Life, I discovered mentors, faith, and a calling to serve.

Today, I’m proud to be part of the Developing Global Leaders (DGL) program, studying Community Development at Kenyatta University—the first in my family to attend college. My life is no longer defined by where I came from, but by the One who walks with me—and the hope I now share with others.
