Peter

My name is Peter, and I live in Sandnes, Norway. I grew up in Jørpeland, Norway, with my parents and two older sisters. We had a loving, caring, Christian family. However Jesus was never the center of our family or of our relationships, and I never really knew Him. My family was not the kind of family that dove deeply in relationships, but it was always superficial. On the outside, it seemed like an almost perfect family, but I longed for someone to really know me and love me. I felt different, sometimes alone, and struggled with trusting people in relationships.

When I was 18 years old I encountered Jesus, and that changed everything. He wanted to know the real me and loved and cared for me endlessly. His love rescued me and, ever since I encountered Him and His love, I have been trying to love like Him and reflect His love to everyone I meet. My family is also being changed by His love. I also now serve as a youth pastor at my church, and Young Life has helped me in this role. 

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying education at University of Stavanger in Stavanger, Norway. With my degree, I want to become a teacher for grades 5-10. I want my students to be loved and seen for who they are. I also want to continue working with youth through my church, discipling them and sharing the Gospel with them.
