I grew up in a Christian family with both parents, an older brother, and a sister. Every Sunday, we went to church. Going to church was a routine since, but I never really understood why I was obligated to go. I knew Jesus existed—that was about it.
I encountered God at my first Young Life summer camp during the "20 minutes alone with God”. I began to realize that I wanted to have a real relationship with Him. During high school, I fell into watching pornography, which led to a struggle with lust and porn. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been fighting it, staying alert and focused, and Young Life really helped me by confessing it openly to other people. I wasn’t surprised by how many others could relate; I’ve seen firsthand how easy it is to get caught in it. Young Life has given me a safe place to confess my sin and help others who have the same struggle.
As a Developing Global Leader, I hope to bring Christ to everyone I meet, especially young people, while finishing my engineering degree and possibly pursuing a Ph.D. I want to provide for my family, serve my church, and continue volunteering with Young Life. At a camp during a “walk of lights,” I made a promise with God to raise my children in a Godly home, just like my parents did and I still wear the bracelet that reminds me of that commitment.
