I grew up in a difficult situation. My mother couldn't care for me, so I was raised by my aunt from the time I was one until I was thirteen. She loved me like her own child, and I never knew she wasn’t my real mother until I turned twelve. When my biological mother came to take me back, I was confused. My biological parents argued often, especially about me. Life with them was hard—there was constant hunger, beatings, and emotional pain. I was moved to a public school, often ran away, and begged others to help talk to my mom. I asked to return to the woman who raised me, but my request was denied. Despite all this, I still love my mother, though we are not close. I often feel behind in life, but I remain hopeful.

I was invited to Young Life by my Young Life leader while attending high school. I was drawn to club meetings and Campaigners, and deeply moved by the camp speaker’s message. It was during the silent night at camp that I met Jesus. Since then, Young Life has helped me grow in my faith and understand that I’m not alone—Jesus is with me even through pain. It has given me purpose and hope that my story can change and impact others.

As a Developing Global Leader, I am grateful to be the first one in my family to attend college. I am studying Public Health and Environmental Science at African Methodist Episcopal University. I plan to use my education to improve the lives of my family and others. I want to be a strong leader and mentor for kids and raise up other leaders in my community. My dream is to start new ministries, build a strong team of intercessors, and serve others through love and faith. I pray God continues to strengthen me for this journey.
