I grew up in a family of eight children—five girls and three boys—and I was the youngest girl. My mom worked as a housekeeper at a lodge and in guest homes, while my dad was a referee in the Premier Soccer League. When he had to retire due to age, our family had to survive on my mother's income. Eventually, her health was affected by the cleaning detergents she worked with, and she had to leave her job. Life became very difficult. My older siblings dropped out of school to help support the family, and it still hurts that they never got the chance to finish their education.
My life changed when I met Jesus at a Young Life camp. The night before I made my decision, we watched a video of His crucifixion—and seeing the pain and humiliation He endured because of me touched my heart deeply. That moment led me to accept Christ as my personal Savior, and I’m forever grateful to the friend who invited me to that camp. I’m now honored to serve as a Young Life leader, walking alongside other young people in their faith journeys.
Since then, I’ve been driven by a desire to succeed academically and professionally, and to inspire others. My journey has been about serving people, spreading hope, and creating a sense of belonging among believers. I’m deeply thankful for the opportunity to grow as a Developing Global Leader and pursue my passion for becoming a chef through the Global Institute of Hospitality and Tourism.
