Abigiya

I am Abigiya Gezahagn,  I have two sister's and a brother. I live with a very supportive diverse family from childhood who raised me with strong faith in God and always encouraged me in Wolaita Sodo-Ethiopia. However, my greatest challenge growing up was my moms health. She has hypertension and often got sick which made me sad and worried, even as a child.

I met Jesus when I was twelve years old during a Sunday school service at Sodo Wadu Full Gospel Believer's Church. That's when I first truly understood His love and gave my life to Him. Since then, my faith has grown deeper through prayer and worship. The catalyst that deepened my walk with Jesus was seeing my mom often fall sick. It made me pray more, depend on God and realize how much I needed His strength and peace. I first heard about Young Life through social media, and I became really interested but didn't know how to join. One day a mutual friend invited me. It felt like God's perfect timing and since then Young Life has helped me grow in faith, leadership, and community.

My hope for the future is to complete my education in medical laboratory science at Silaom College and use my profession to help others. I will be the first in my family to graduate from college. I want to support my family and also be a good example to other young people who may be facing challenges like I did. In leadership, I want to mentor and serve more young people with love and purpose. My goal is to continue serving God faithfully reaching out to others and helping them know Jesus. I want to live a life that glorifies God.
