My name is Yehor, and I’m from a small town called Zolotonosha. I grew up with my grandparents in this town after my biological mother passed away when I was young. My father remarried and we moved away, but I returned when I was in the fourth grade and stayed with them permanently. They faithfully took me to church - my grandmother and grandfather each introduced me to different Christian traditions, which shaped my early faith. Growing up in that spiritual environment, I’ve always believed that Jesus saved me and that I am His child.
One Sunday, a powerful sermon led me to accept Jesus during a call to repentance. Since then, my faith has been a journey of continual growth and reflection. In 2021, my involvement deepened when my friends and I started a teen ministry. Later, a mentor introduced us to Young Life, which we immediately loved. I’m currently leading the Wyld Life team, where we have an active ministry with lots of teenagers. I also enjoy mentoring other leaders as they grow, and support efforts to launch Young Life in a nearby village.
As a Developing Global Leader, I’m currently earning a degree in Financial and Insurance Mathematics. Because of the war obstacles and lack of shelters, all my studies are now online for safety reasons. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university. I dream of becoming a math teacher so I can have a positive influence on teenagers. My greatest desire is to serve young people, to grow as a servant leader, and continue using the tools and community of Young Life to help young people find hope and purpose.
