My name is Alina, I live with my parents in capital city of Moldova – Chisinau. I grew up in a full family, but my dad was often away for work, and my mom worked a lot. I spent most of my time with my grandma or brother. When my dad was home, he drank heavily, which caused constant tension. I was ashamed to invite friends over and longed for a normal family life. Despite working a lot, my mom gave me many opportunities and has always been my biggest support. Because of the situation at home, I became independent early — learning to cook, clean, and take care of myself.
I come from an Orthodox family- I always believed that God existed. But when I was fourteen, I went to a Young Life camp, where I realized that you can actually have a relationship with God — not just believe in Him. At Young Life, I heard stories from people who had gone through similar struggles, and they all talked about prayer. So, I started praying, too. I prayed for my dad and my broken family — and eventually, my dad stopped drinking. I also saw the passion and love in the eyes of the Young Life leaders as they served us — and I wanted to have that same heart.
As a DGL student, I’m earning a medical degree at Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. I also want to develop Wyld Life in Moldova, helping more kids experience clubs and camps. I enjoy leading small groups and hope to raise new leaders to share Christ with others. I trust God will guide me as I grow.
