My name is Noé. I live Charleroi, Belgium, with my parents and my sister. I grew up in a loving, Christian family. My challenges started when I entered high school. I did not like how I looked, and my friends mocked me to feel better about themselves. I did not have much confidence and did not defend myself when others joked about me. I struggled to find my value. God helped me overcome this challenge through His Word, prayer, worship and the reminder of how He sees me.
I have had a relationship with Jesus since I was a child. However, as I grew older, the real challenge for me was to believe that Jesus was with me, even when I could not feel His presence. I was reminded of His presence in my life at Young Life camp when I was 14. My parents were both Young Life leaders and invited me to club and camp. I was amazed by everyone's joy and love for each other at camp. This helped me strengthen my faith and deepen my relationship with Jesus. The mission of Young Life changed my life. I then became a volunteer leader with high school kids, Young Life University and at my church. I have always gone to church because my parents took me. However, as I have gotten older, I have realized the importance of community with other believers.
As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Mons in Charleroi, Belgium. I want to focus on civil engineering and find a job involving math and science. I also want to continue leading with my Young Life team and serve in my local church with kids or as a musician.
