Raised in rural Zimbabwe, Tendai was sent to live with her sister in town at a young age so she could begin school. She experienced deep hurt from the unequal treatment she received from her sister, feeling like an outsider in her home. For years, Tendai carried resentment until she heard about Jesus in the way Young Life presented the gospel to her. Although she had gone to church, her understanding of forgiveness through Christ grew through the help of her Young Life leader.
Tendai met Jesus personally during an outreach camp where she had time to reflect and connect with God. The message stirred something in her, and she began to desire a relationship with Jesus. She started studying the Bible and applying it to her life. Hearing that Jesus died for her sins, helped her realize that she needed to forgive in order to live in freedom.
Now, as the first in her family to attend university, Tendai is studying Commerce with an emphasis on Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Midlands State University. She envisions a future where her studies in the Developing Global Leaders program empower her to become a strong leader in her community and share the knowledge she gains with others.
