My name is Holy, and I currently live in student housing in Berlin, Germany, while my family lives in Egypt. I grew up in Cairo with my parents and sister. Life was stable until my father had to move away for work, and we only saw him once or twice a month. Although it was a tough adjustment, we stayed close as a family. One of my biggest challenges came when I moved to Germany for my education. The process felt nearly impossible, especially financially, but God opened doors. My final year in school was filled with stress over national exams and the fear of adapting to a new culture. In that moment, I chose to trust God and keep moving forward in faith.
I was raised in a Christian home and have known Jesus for as long as I can remember. Church was always part of my life, but my relationship with God grew deeper as I got older. I joined my church’s worship team and later a Christian choir that performed in public spaces, often in front of non-Christian audiences. That experience helped me see God working in unexpected places and gave me courage in my faith. Today, I attend an Arab Christian church in Berlin, where I’ve found community, support, and spiritual growth. It’s also where I met a former Developing Global Leaders' student who introduced me to Young Life. I now volunteer with middle school WyldLife, helping young teens connect to Jesus.
Thanks to the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I’m studying Engineering and Computer Science, majoring in Transport Systems at the Technical University of Berlin. I hope to become a mechanical engineer and serve God through both my career and ministry.
